Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-24
My Foodie (“we”, “us”) helps you identify meals, save them, follow other foodies, and book reservations. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how to control it.
1. Data we collect
- Account — email, username, display name, optional avatar/cover photo and bio.
- Meal photos & metadata — the photos you snap and what the AI identifies. Photos are stored in our hosted storage; thumbnails and three resized variants are kept.
- Location — when you grant permission, we read your device GPS or photo EXIF GPS to improve identification and to suggest nearby restaurants. We never sell or share location with third parties.
- Social — your reactions, comments, follows, reviews, and reservation history.
- Diagnostics — request logs (IP, user-agent, path, status). Held for at most 30 days.
2. Third-party processors
- Anthropic — the image you scan is sent to Claude (Sonnet 4.6) for identification. Anthropic does not train on API requests by default. Anthropic privacy policy.
- Supabase — auth + Postgres + storage. Supabase privacy.
- Yelp / Google Places — restaurant search, reviews, reservation links. We send only what is necessary to fulfil your query.
- YouTube embeds — videos play via the official YouTube iframe with cookie-less
youtube-nocookiemode when supported. - Cloud hosting — Vercel. Vercel privacy.
3. Permissions on iOS & Android
- Camera — to scan a meal. We never auto-capture.
- Photos — only when you pick a photo from your library.
- Location (while in use) — only to find nearby restaurants and tag your meal. Always optional.
- Push notifications — only after you opt-in.
4. Your controls
- Edit profile, delete meals, unsave anything, withdraw a review — all in-app.
- Account deletion: email privacy@tryfoodieapp.com; we erase all linked rows within 30 days.
- You can also revoke camera, photos, and location permission at the OS level.
5. Children
My Foodie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
6. International transfer
We host in US data centers. By using the app you consent to data being processed in the United States.
7. Contact
